24/7 access is available to ACT Health staff. Use your ACT Health security pass to enter and exit at all times.
The library is staffed from 8:30 am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
If you do not have an ACT Health security pass, please obtain a temporary access card from Communications Switchboard Office located in building 1.
Library staff are not present on weekends or public holidays to provide assistance or access.
Access is available to members of the public between 8:30am and 5.00 pm weekdays. Please use the phone to the right of the doorway to speak with library staff.

Car parking

The hospital provides car parking facilities for staff and visitors. The main carparks on campus include the Southern Multi-story carpark and the Yamba Drive carpark. The ACT Health library provides information services and resources to ACT Health Directorate staff, ANU medical students, and students on work placement.

ACT Health staff membership

  • Borrow up to 5 books for 2 weeks
  • Off-site access to electronic resources including books, journals, databases, and mobile apps
  • Literature searches
  • Training on how to do a literature search
  • Training on how to use Endnote reference management software
  • Research support and advice
  • Article or book chapter request
  • 24/7 access to the library

ACT Health staff on short term contract for a minimum of 6 weeks (temporary membership)

Also available to Pastoral Care staff, Centre for Spiritual Care staff, nurses undertaking an ACT Health run course, and overseas nurses in training

  • Access to electronic resources in the library
  • 24/7 access to the library

Student membership

  • Borrow up to 3 books for 2 weeks
  • Access to electronic resources in the library
  • 24/7 access to the library

ACT Health staff can join the library by filling in the online registration form. Please upload a scanned copy of your ACT health ID card.
Student and community members will need to register for membership at the loans desk.

Fee based membership

Individuals can become members of the Library for an annual fee, and pay for services as they require them.

Personal membership $100 per year
  • Access the library during business hours
  • Borrow up to 5 books for 2 weeks
  • Access electronic resources in the library

Use your library barcode for borrowing and electronic access.

To Login to your library account click on "my library account":

  • Type in your User ID (library barcode) and your password (your last name + last 2 digits of your barcode)
  • Click on "New Search"
  • Search for the item and click on the title
  • Click on "Request"


Login to your library account to renew your items online or contact the loans desk by phoning 02 614 27759 or email: tch.library@act.gov.au
Renewing loans online

  • View your record in my library account
  • Type in your User ID (library barcode) and your password (your last name + last 2 digits of your barcode)
  • Click on loans
  • Select the items you wish to renew and click on the “renew” button
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that your items have been renewed successfully

The following items cannot be renewed

  • Items reserved for another patron
  • Items that have already been renewed the maximum number of times

Overdues and fines

Fines will apply to all items that are overdue.

Books, DVDs and reports $0.50 per item per day
Special Reserve items $0.50 per item per hour
iPads $5.00 per item per day

If your fines are $5 or more, you will be blocked from borrowing until the full amount is settled. You may pay fines in person at the library loans desk, by cash or cheque made to "Health Directorate Library”. Return or renew your items by the due date to avoid overdue fines. Check your email regularly for overdue or courtesy notices. If Library material is lost or damaged, the replacement cost will be charged. Any item 28 days overdue is automatically deemed "Lost" Direct all queries to the library loans desk. Call 02 614 27759 during business hours or email TCH.Library@act.gov.au


Return your loans to the library loans desk or the after-hours return chute in the library on the left hand side of the door.


Social and quiet study spaces

Desks, carrels and lounges are available for private and group study. Power stations are located below desks to charge mobile devices and laptops.

Quiet study rooms

For ACT Health staff and students only.
Study rooms may be booked for individuals or groups of up to 6 people for study purposes only.
The maximum time allocation in 2 hours per person per day.
Please provide your name, E-mail address, Study Room number and specify the date and time you would to book.

Computer hub

Computers are available in the library. Log on to computers with your ACT Health username and password.  
iPads are available for loan. You will need to fill in the iPad Loan Agreement Form and return the iPad to the loans desk in person during business hours.

Paging phone

The paging phone is located in a room to the left-hand side of the door

Print, copy and scan 

Login to the ACT Health Impravata network to print, copy or scan via the “Follow Me” service. Print and copy charges are automatically billed to the cost centre of your work unit/ division.

Free Wi-Fi

To access free Wi-Fi, go to the Wi-Fi settings on your device and select the “HealthFree” network

Self-check machine

Library items can be borrowed via the self-check machine located near the front door.

Training room

Access to the training room is available for ACT Health staff only.

Food and beverage policy

This food and beverage policy is intended to maintain a clean and comfortable environment in the library:

  • Keep the lid on your food container while moving around the Library
  • Drinks are also permitted but please ensure that they are in a covered container (e.g. use a bottle cap or a cup with a lid)
  • Foods which may result in a mess should not be brought in to the Library
  • Any spills should be cleaned up immediately and Library staff alerted if larger spills occur or more cleaning is required. Cleaning products can be requested from the Library staff if required
  • Please dispose of all containers/rubbish in to the appropriate ‘Landfill’ or ‘Recycling Comingled’ containers
